Plagiarism Screening Policy

An article is indicated as plagiarism if the article takes the work of another author without permission, credit or acknowledgement. Indications that include plagiarism are as follows:

  • Literal copying; a form of plagiarism in which an article adapts another article, be it word for word, in part, or as a whole, without the permission and acknowledgement of the original source. Literal copying is a form of plagiarism that is easily detected because the plagiarism is clear just by comparing it to the original work.
  • Substantial copying; a form of plagiarism in which an article imitates a substantial or essential part of another article without the permission and acknowledgement of the original source. Substantial sections include data, methodology, and results. If an article has imitated a substantial part of another article, even if only a small part, then in essence the article essentially allows plagiarism to occur.
  • Paraphrasing; a form of plagiarism in which an article adapts writing ideas by changing the sentence from the original article. This form of plagiarism is plagiarism that is difficult to detect because the written form has been paraphrased.

Teknomekanik will investigate all articles and will take action against articles that indicate plagiarism or self-plagiarism. Articles with indications of plagiarism will be rejected immediately. Teknomekanik uses COPE guidelines to investigate suspected plagiarism.
