The articles published in Teknomekanik Volume 6, Issue 1 (2023) showcase recent advances in mechanical engineering, energy systems, materials engineering, process simulation, industrial engineering, and sustainable production technologies. This issue brings together 5 research articles authored by 20 researchers from 7 institutions across 4 countries, including Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, and Myanmar.

The contributing institutions include Andalas University, Universitas Negeri Medan, and Universitas Negeri Padang (Indonesia); Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation, Satbayev University (Kazakhstan); Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia); Department of Research and Innovation – Renewable Energy and Electronic Technology Research Center and Yangon Technological University (Myanmar). These contributions reflect the journal’s commitment to fostering international collaboration and promoting the exchange of engineering knowledge across diverse scientific and technological communities.

The published papers address a broad range of contemporary engineering challenges, including the design and energy production analysis of a grid-connected 40 MW photovoltaic power plant, the influence of biochemical oxidation on copper hydrometallurgical extraction processes, the effect of processing temperature on the mechanical properties of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers, process design and simulation of electricity generation systems utilizing low-grade waste thermal energy through Aspen HYSYS modeling, and the implementation of Lean Six Sigma methodologies for waste reduction in shipbuilding production processes. The issue highlights the growing integration of renewable energy technologies, sustainable materials engineering, process optimization, industrial efficiency improvement, and simulation-based engineering approaches to address emerging technological and industrial challenges.

In line with the journal’s focus and scope, this issue contributes to the advancement of knowledge in mechanical systems, materials and manufacturing technologies, renewable energy engineering, process simulation and optimization, industrial engineering, and sustainable production systems.
